What Is a Serious Injury Claim?

A serious injury claim encompasses compensation for those injuries which are so severe that they will impact on your life on a permanent basis. Serious injury claims are often known as catastrophic injury claims, and may impair your ability to work, your mobility, or your capacity to carry out day-to-day tasks. Serious injury compensation is important in meeting your ongoing care costs, rehabilitation, as well as your loss of earnings.

Serious injury cases are significantly different to minor personal injury claims and require specialist legal advice and assessment. Thompsons' Serious Injury Team specialise solely in high-value, complex matters and have settled some of the highest serious injury compensation claims in Scotland.

How Compensation Is Calculated

Compensation in serious injury cases is dependent on the nature and severity of the injury, time taken to recover, long-term prognosis, cost of medical treatment and rehabilitation, lost earnings and future financial losses, and care, accommodation and mobility needs.

Our serious injury claim solicitors are experienced in ensuring full general damages for pain and suffering, and special damages for financial loss and future care are achieved.

Dog attack

Having never made a claim for compensation before Meghan was appointed my solicitor. From the start she was very friendly but professional. Always explained things in a way I would understand. She was also very prompt in replying to any of my questions or when asking for updates and nothing seemed to much trouble for her. The advice and guidance from her made the process very easy. There was also a time where I waa unsure if going for further appointments to see a specialist was the right way to go. Meghan gave her own thoughts but also asked advise herself just to be sure which was reassuring to me. I couldn't recommend her highly enough.
