BIGGEST LAW SUIT IN SCOTTISH LEGAL HISTORY WORTH MILLIONS AT CRUCIAL STAGE
Lawyers representing Scottish VW drivers point to significant ruling from English High Court and advise the opportunity to join the law suit will soon end.
Thompsons Solicitors which represent over 1600 Scottish drivers caught up in the VW Diesel-gate scandal say the class action law suit is at a pivotal moment. The mass litigation is the largest in Scottish legal history with the potential value of compensation payouts to Scots drivers running into several millions of pounds. Earlier this week English High Court judge Mr Justice Waksman ruled that VW had indeed fitted their cars with devices with the sole purpose of deceiving strict tests to measure dangers to the environment. In doing so VW deceived both official agencies and also their customers who had paid a premium for what they thought was a greener option. In reality their cars were emitting fumes which were up to 40 times more in volume than VW claimed.
