I have met with and continue to help soldiers, and families of soldiers injured in battle. 

Soldiers know of the risks associated with their jobs but it is my job to make sure that they are properly taken care of should they get injured.

I was pleased therefore to hear that the military’s sub-standard compensation scheme is to undergo reform.

On average, compensation payments to soldiers injured while on duty are to increase by 30%.

‘Life-time’ incomes currently paid to the most seriously injured personnel will also increase to reflect likely promotions and later retirement ages.  A young soldier seriously injured will now get approximately £1.5 million compensation, in the form of a wage, over the course of his lifetime.
