Hi, I'm Jonathan Howitt, a partner at Thompsons, and I head up the firm's

medical negligence team.

This week, you'll have seen coverage in The Herald about the tragic case of our

client, Caitlin, and her baby daughter, Lacey.

No parent should ever have to go through the trauma and loss suffered by Caitlin

and her family. The Health Board's own adverse incident report makes

clear that there were several serious failings in the care

provided. Sadly, my team are seeing an increasing

number of families coming to us having experienced substandard care in

maternity units across Scotland.

Our role is to stand alongside those families, to seek

answers and to hold the Health Boards to account so our clients receive the

justice they deserve.
