This needs to change and to get change, we need to come to
Parliament.
A momentous moment in the fight for justice over Pfizer's
Depo-Provera. Each of these women have been impacted by the
contraceptive jag's side effects.
Now their case has reached the Scottish Parliament.
Inside, a cross-party group of MSPs listened on.
As supported by Thompsons, the women told their stories.
How long were you on it?
20.
And you've had symptoms-
I have, yeah
... and you cannot get listened to.
They won't. Although the CT scan was clear, they have checked it.
We're not taking it any further for you.
I would probably not be here today.
That's how serious my trouble was.
Every MSP of every party stand together and
join us in the demand to the UK to set up a
UK-wide public inquiry.
MSPs committed to raising the issue at the highest levels of UK
and Scottish governments, as well as seeking urgent changes to the
information provided to anyone using Depo-Provera.
For the women, it's a huge step forward as they search for
accountability and to make sure no one else goes through the
same thing.
I feel it went really positively. I think the MSPs really
did listen to what we were here to say.
I felt like they were taking it seriously.
We were so listened to. They took every bit of information we had in,
took that in, and have come up with an amazing plan to take things forward.
Obviously, we would love to have a UK review.
However, we know that's a long process, but the actions that were put into place
before that are amazing.
Thompsons are proud to have stood with the women and are committed to securing
justice and getting the answers they deserve.
I'm really, really proud of all the women that spoke today.
I think they spoke really, really well, and I'm just so proud of how well they did
and how brave they were to be speaking in front of cross-party members of
Parliament. We had people from the Scottish Tories, Labour, SNP.
We had a representative for the health secretary.
It was great to see the women just stand up and share their stories.
I couldn't be prouder of them.
And there's still time to join this fight if you too believe
you have been impacted.
If any women have watched any of the social media coverage or seen anything on
Facebook that they know they're not alone in this.
I spoke with a woman just last week who doesn't really use social media and things
like that and had seen some stories on STV News, and she said she realized for
the first time that she wasn't alone in this, and that's what this is really about.
It's about women realizing that there are communities of women supporting each
other and helping each other, and that's just wonderful to see, as unfortunate
as it is within these circumstances.
