He was just basically full of life, which is what made it so

sad that that was cut short for him.

Gwen Lamb remembers her dad, Robert Crozier, as fun,

kind, and honest, a man who worked hard his

entire life. Robert was a mechanical fitter for

Scottish Power for more than 20 years.

He was not someone to be an ill man at all.

He barely had a day off sick. He was very proud to work for Scottish

Power,

which again was such a slap in the face that they ended up treating him like

that.

In 2014, Robert was diagnosed with pleural plaques,

scarring on his lungs, and asbestosis, both

caused by asbestos exposure at work.

Thompsons Solicitors secured compensation then, but the

settlement said Robert could never claim again, even if he

later developed cancer. And that is exactly what

happened.

It's not the sort of death you would want anyone to go through.

It's not the death he deserved.

And yeah, we've just been left with that as our final memories.

After Robert's death, his family sought justice of their own.

Scottish Power refused. Instead, the company spent

eight years fighting the case, dragging a grieving family

all the way to the Supreme Court.

Thompsons stood with the Crozier family, and in December

2025, they won a landmark judgment.

But almost five months on, nothing has changed.

The Crozier family are still waiting.

The fact that this case keeps dragging on, it means

that each time, these are the memories that come to the forefront when we're

trying to remember

all the rest of our life with dad.

It's always brought back to the way it all finally played out.

For Gwen and her family, this was never about

money. Like so many families that we represent, they

want answers, and they want an apology.

They say Scottish Power's handling of the case has left them

angry and deeply hurt.

They're a huge company. This sort of payout will mean

nothing to them.

But it all means a lot to us. The apology means a lot to us.

No money in the world can bring our dad back.

He's missed my son's wedding. My sister's eldest

daughter is due a baby in August. All these big

points in our life, he would've been here,

but he's going to miss it all.
