We would always say to people, think twice, take legal advice,

speak to your union if you have one before you make a decision to hand in that

resignation letter. One of the things that happens as soon as you hand in the

resignation letter, the time for negotiation is really over.

Whereas if you think twice, maybe approach your employer and see if you can find

some sort of solution, then it's very often possible to find a way of

exiting your employer with some form of compensation or some sort of

satisfactory resolution before you go.
