Scottish women suffering from horrific side affects and agonising pain caused by plastic mesh implants to treat bladder problems are being urged to trust Thompsons to fight their legal battle.
It is thought hundreds of women could be suffering as a result of treatment to support pelvic organs and correct stress incontinence. In the UK more than 14,000 mesh implant procedures are carried out each year.
Award winning Solicitors Thompsons is the lead firm dealing with both the PIP breast implant and the metal-on-metal hip implant scandals and Partner Patrick McGuire said: “Anyone going through the horrific ordeal of dealing with a sensitive operation which has gone wrong needs to know they have somewhere to turn for help. Thompsons has unrivalled expertise when it comes to dealing with health issues and acts for hundreds of Scots who have been affected by the PIP and metal-on-metal hip implant scandals. We have a team of health and consumer specialists waiting to offer this expertise to anyone suffering as a result of polypropelene mesh implants.”
Shadow health secretary Jackie Baillie MSP is calling for an inquiry into the safety of the products which have been known to cause painful, life altering side affects to those who have undergone treatment to have them fitted. Patrick McGuire added: “Thompsons is unique in our approach to the law in that we are a campaigning firm and will fight tooth and nail to right injustices. We have extensive experience of dealing with inquiries and have in fact acted in three of the four public inquiries which have taken place in Scotland since the new legislation. We are the only firm north of the border which can offer the victims of this latest health scandal this sort of support.”
Spokesperson for the PIP Implants Scotland campaign group Jennifer Brown said: “It is devastating to hear there is yet another cancer at the heart of medical devices in Scotland but this simply reiterates the importance of victims standing up and fighting for justice.”
