A Lithuanian worker has been killed in an accident whilst working at a firm that processes pet food ingredients.

It has been reported that a worker employed by Alba Proteins in Dumfries, was operating a digger when he was tragically fatally injured.

The man has not yet been identified but a spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Police have advised that police were in attendance at the site and that a body of a 36 year old man had been removed.

Investigations into the cause of the death are currently being investigated and both the Procurator Fiscal and the Health and Safety Executive have been notified.
