A Glasgow Engineering firm was this week fined £25,000 for their negligence which caused the death of one of their trainee surveyors.

Russell Donald, 20, died when the metal pole he was carrying came into contact with a high voltage power line in Birchmoss, Aberdeenshire.

Russell’s body was found by his father who went to look for him as he was worried that Russell had not come home from work.

Russell’s employers admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and paid the fine.

It is unknown whether Russell’s family are seeking compensation for the death of their son.
