A 37 year old Shetland woman is suing the police following a road traffic accident that left her with an altered personality.

Rachel Rosie from Scalloway in Shetland suffered serious personal injury including head injuries and a broken collarbone in the accident. She was attempting to overtake a van when a lorry ahead turned left off the road causing her to collide with the lorry.

She claims that the police caused the crash because their car was blocking an exit route, thus preventing the lorry from clearing the road. Owing to her injuries Mrs Rosie was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and spent a total of seven weeks in hospital following the accident.

Her personal injury action against the Northern Constabulary has been raised at Lerwick Sheriff Court citing her personality change as causing her to be unable concentrate, having a lack of initiative and inappropriate emotional responses.
