A woman has recently received a compensation settlement after sustaining whiplash injuries in a car accident. Her claim reached court in July 2010.
Melanie Logan had worked as a social worker but had retired and set up her own business as a tattoo artist. She had been a passenger in the car at the time of the accident. Afterwards she was left with ongoing back pain as a result of the whiplash.
Due to this back pain she was only able to operate her tattoo business 3 days a week as opposed to the 6 days a week it had previously been open. She made a compensation claim for her injuries and also for loss of earnings. She was able to show that she had a large customer base and could have made more money if it hadn’t been for her injury.
Due to this the court included compensation for the loss of earnings in her settlement and awarded her £65,858.
