A student has received a compensation payment after being injured in a road traffic accident. He had been riding to university on his scooter at the time.
James Murphy had been approaching a junction at the time of the accident. He stopped at the junction as a bus was passing. However, the bus turned right into his road and cut the corner, striking Mr Murphy in the process. This caused him to be knocked off his scooter and also caused him severe pain.
After being taken to hospital it was discovered that he had ruptured the posterior cruciate ligament in his knee. As a result of this he had to have an operation and has suffered disruption to his studies due to his reduced mobility.
Because of this he decided to sue the bus company for their driver’s careless driving. Mr Murphy was able to agree a compensation settlement with the company out of court and ended up receiving £12,750 in compensation for his injury.
