A woman recently received compensation for an injury sustained whilst driving home from work. The road traffic accident occurred in August 2009.
When the accident happened she had been stationary at a set of traffic lights. As she waited, a car drove up behind her too quickly to stop and ended up striking her vehicle.
In the aftermath of the accident she began to feel significant pain in her neck and lower back. After getting a medical examination she was told that she would require physiotherapy and would take around a year to make a full recovery from her injuries.
Because of this pain, cost and inconvenience, she decided to seek compensation from the other driver’s insurer. The insurer offered her a settlement of £1,700 initially. However, she rejected this offer and took them to court. She was able to use evidence from her medical exam in court to prove the extent of her injuries and was awarded a compensation payout of £2,335 by the judge.
