Owen Griffin’s lawyers have agreed £3million compensation for devastating brain and physical injuries sustained in a car accident in March 2004. The settlement is one of the biggest personal injury settlements in Northern Ireland.
Mr Griffin was a singer and a member of a band who had secured slots as support artists for Westlife and Girls Aloud at the time of the accident. The car accident occurred on the Glasgow to Stranraer road when the band was on their way to catch a ferry to Northern Ireland.
Griffin was asleep in the back of the vehicle when it collided head on with a motorcycle. He sustained severe brain and physical injuries and was in a coma for weeks. He will never be able to live independently and still continues to suffer psychological trauma. He currently stays in a house with three other men who require personal care in an assistance living scheme.
