A Union member employed as an abel seaman with Boskalis Westminster secures £45,000 compensation with Thompsons.
Whilst working on board the WD Mersey Mr Cave slipped on a build-up of rubbish sustaining a bi-fracture dislocation of his right ankle which required surgery in the form of an open reduction and internal fixation of his ankle. Unfortunately Mr Cave developed post traumatic arthritis in his ankle joint which our medical expert advised is likely to deteriorate over time. Due to the accident Mr Cave was unable to continue as an Abel Seaman and had to retire after over 13 years of working for Boskalis Westminster.
With the help of Thompsons and his Union after three lower offers were rejected compensation was secured in the sum of £45,000.
Mr Cave’s solicitor, Seonaid Brophy, said “I’m delighted to have secured for Mr Cave the compensation that he was due following this terrible accident. The accident has changed Mr Cave’s life and sadly his working career ended earlier than he would have wanted. This compensation will go some way towards assisting him adjust to what now lies ahead.”
