Mr Alan Lindsay has received £26,000 following an accident in the course of his work with OI Manufacturing UK Limited in Alloa.
Mr Lindsay, who worked as a craft team leader, was checking for excess water in the manufacturing system when he was hit in the face with a metal nut. Mr Lindsay reported the accident to his employers and contacted his union who referred him to Thompsons to progress a claim for compensation.
Mr Lindsay had been left with permant damage to his face following the accident. Mr Lindsay’s employers admitted that they were liable, but they would not offer a fair amount of compensation. A case was therefore raised at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
Mr Lindsay rejected a proposal of £15,000 and a court action had to be raised to obtain a fair settlement. During the court action a proposal was made of £26,000 which Mr Young accepted.
Edinburgh solicitor Sarah Young who represented Mr Lindsay said “I hope that lessons have been learned by Mr Lindsay’s employers so further accidents can be avoided in the future. I am pleased that he has now received the compensation he was entitled to.” Mr Young when asked about his claim said “Extremely pleased with your level of service. Was kept well informed. Extremely professional. Cannot find any negative points at all”
