I was pleased to see that recently a Judge has jailed 2 young drivers who caused the death of a 17 year old boy by racing their cars at 90 mph.

Young drivers are often criticised and many people don’t want them to be able to drive unsupervised.  Although you might not agree with me I can see why this might be the case.  The judge also raised questions about the “wisdom of allowing new drivers immediate, unrestricted, and unconditional driving opportunity”.

I don’t know if they will make any changes to the law concerning young drivers but if they do then it is sadly too late for Richard Wilkinson who died when the car he was a passenger lost control on a bend, overturned and ended up crashing into a field in the Borders.  The two drivers involved in the car crash have also been banned  from driving for 12 years.

As a driver myself, driving at 90 mph is ridiculous and of course there will be a high risk of losing control of the car and causing an accident.  Hopefully sometime soon there will be a change in the law concerning young drivers that will make driving on roads safer!
