I was very happy to read recently that work to reduce road casualties has seen accident fatality rates fall to their lowest level since records began. Recent statistics show that Scotland achieved the lowest road accident fatality rates since records began and it continues to exceed the UK road safety target.
Although this is very good news, there are still too many accidents on our roads and sadly some of these result in death or serious injury. Like Kevin Smith, head of ACPOS Road Policing Business Area, said: “The number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads continues to fall and we should take encouragement that our combined approach, through the Road Safety Strategic Partnership Board is working – but we must keep doing more.”
We must all do our part when out driving to make sure we drive in an appropriate manner at all times and keep the roads as safe as possible.
