Although the snow was very good fun to play in and little Thom had some unexpected time off school; have you noticed that the snow has made a real mess of the roads?
Prior to the snow the potholes in the streets around the Thom household were bad enough but they seem to have grown and multiplied following the big thaw. I heard on the news that they have been causing road traffic accidents on some motorways. I wonder if the Council will pay out any compensation for accidents caused by potholes.
Potholes appear in winter when water seeps under a road surface and freezes to form ice. When the temperature rises again, it causes cracks or holes.I read that Councils are being given an extra £15 million to fix potholes on Scotland’s roads. This is three times the amount of money which was available last year. Up to one tenth of the road network in Scotland is thought to require urgent damage caused by the bad weather which was the coldest December Scotland has seen in 100 years.
