A train driver who became wedged between his train and the platform after slipping on black ice while descending from his cab has won £10,000 compensation.
Thomas Burns was driving a First Scotrail Aberdeen to Perth train in December 2009 at the time of his accident. When he arrived into Perth station he climbed out of his cab and slipped and fell due to that section of the platform having not been gritted.
He suffered damage to the ligaments in his left knee which resulted in a substantial period off work. He continues to suffer stiffness and pain as a result of his injury.
As a member of ASLEF, Mr Burns was able to turn to Thompsons for legal support to intimate a claim. Thompsons raised proceedings in the Court of Session and secured £10,000 in compensation for Mr Burns. In this short video he explains what happened following his accident.
