I was so sad to read in the newspaper about the six people that were killed after a plane crashed at Cork airport. The accident is due to be investigated by the air accident investigation unit.

My friends at Thompsons Solicitors have told me that it is possible to claim compensation if you have been injured in an airplane crash.  It is also possible to claim compensation if you have had an accident whilst in the air or while embarking or disembarking the aircraft.

The issue is covered by the Montreal Convention which states that the carrier is strictly liable for bodily injuries as a result of an accident on an aircraft.  This means that the airline will be liable to compensate for injuries without the need to prove that the accident was caused by the negligence of the airline company.

So, if the accident was the fault of another passenger or even if nobody was to blame for the accident then you may be eligible for compensation.

If you or a member of your family has been injured in an accident on board an aircraft in the last 2 years then you may be eligible for compensation.  Contact Thompsons Solicitors who will provide you with advise on the next steps to take to obtaining compensation.
