Introduction:
What’s your name and job title?
Hi, I’m Nikaela Hair, and I work as a Paralegal.
How long have you been with Thompsons?
I’ve been with Thompsons for a total of 5.5 years since returning in 2020 after a break to raise my children. My journey actually began much earlier as I first joined the firm back in 2008!
Which team and office are you based in?
I’m part of the Mass Litigation team based in our Glasgow office.
Professional Journey:
What inspired you to pursue a career at Thompsons?
I’ve had a keen interest in law since school, which led me to do my work experience at Thompsons. From there, I continued with summer placements and then joined full-time after leaving school, starting out in the filing department. Over the years, I’ve worked in various teams including the Legal Enquiries Team, the Private Client team, and now Mass Litigation. It’s been a rewarding journey seeing how much the firm and I have grown.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love being part of such a dynamic and evolving area of litigation. It’s exciting to work in a space where the legal landscape is constantly changing, and seeing the tangible impact of our work behind the scenes is incredibly rewarding.
Memorable Moments:
Can you share a favourite memory or achievement from your time here?
One of the highlights has definitely been being part of the VW settlement, it was a huge moment for the team and for me personally.
Is there a project or case you’re particularly proud of?
I’m especially proud of my involvement in coordinating settlement offers and payments for our VW clients, as well as simultaneously helping set up processes for our Arnold Clark and South Lanarkshire Council data breach claims during that time.

What advice would you give to someone starting at Thompsons?
Get involved and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Learn about the different teams and what they do—everyone from admin to equity plays a key role. Even a basic understanding of how each case works can make a big difference. It helps you see the bigger picture and understand why we do what we do.
