Once again Thompsons are very happy to get involved with Scotland’s leading anti-racism charity, Show Racism The Red Card. SRTRC were established in 1996 and work across the country helping to educate young people and adults about the damage prejudice and racism causes.

They work with football clubs, schools, trade unions and local authorities producing educational resources, developing activities that help young people challenge racism and they also work with high profile footballers who use their status as great role models to get the anti-racism message across.

This year SRTRD card will be working with  settled refugee communities in Scotland. These are extremely vulnerable groups who had come to Scotland after fleeing terrible persecution in their home countries and have in most instances been welcomed into Scotland. However there have been cases of refugee children suffering racism in schools and in the wider community.

Show Racism The Red Card will be organising actives and providing education resources to help refugee children and local kids understand what racism is and how damaging it can be. Thompsons will be supporting them throught this campaign and we will provide regular updates on the work being done and how we can all get behind the charity.

Scotland is rightly known as a welcoming country but we can’t for a minute rest on our laurels. Tolerance in our communities and schools is something that must be worked for and everyone at Thompsons is looking forward to helping Show Racism The Red Card in the great work that they do.
