With all the talk of cutting public spending in the wake of the election the last thing we wanted to hear is that NHS workers have been defrauding the tax payer.
Unfortunately Joanne Jamieson, an administrative assistant at Stobhill admitted pocketing over £40,000 by doctoring (excuse the pun) her timesheets.
The ploy of adding extra hours she did not do to boost her wages was only discovered when the hospital conducted an audit as it had overspent its budget.
It also emerged that ironically part of Ms. Jamieson’s job was to administer legitimate compensation claims for patients and employment compensation matters for staff!
It is the taxpayer who has been left without scope for compensation or redress due to the Greed of this employee.
Sentence on Jamieson has been deferred by Glasgow Sheriff Court for reports.
