Little Thom told me that one of his friends was at the supermarket the other night and there was almost a riot!  I was really annoyed to discover that this was due to an error which meant that Tesco were charging £11 for 3 boxes of beer and cider.  If only I had known about this!  The deal was supposed to be £11 discount off 3 boxes but the error meant that people were receiving a real bargain!!  I heard that in Greenock police had to be called due to heavy congestion in the car park as customers literally ran to try and cash in on the deal.

The power of the internet and social networking made sure that the news spread quickly which also led to problems at Tesco at Silverburn shopping Centre in Glasgow and at a store in Bellshill.   One customer described the situation as bedlam and he told how people phoned their friends to spread the news.  Some customers even went as far as going home to change their clothes so they could buy more!!
