As I blog today my head is spinning due to the copious amounts of champagne consumed at last nights Firm Magazine Law Awards.

I wasn’t planning a big night but my plasticine plans were pleasantly distorted when Thompsons Managing Partner Frank Maguire was announced as Solicitor of the Year!!

What an achievement!

Frank fought off fierce competition from other high profile and successful Lawyers from across Scotland to scoop the top award.

Frank’s political campaigning was recognised at the ceremony together with his day to day work acting for victims of serious disease.  Particular praise was given in regard to his tireless campaigning on behalf of asbestos victims and NHS patients who contracted Hepatitis C and HIV from infected NHS blood transfusions and products.

I have often said that Frank is the only lawyer I know who not only applies the law but CHANGES THE LAW through his campaigning for the benefit of his clients.  That is the kind of lawyer I am glad to have on our side.

The award was widely accepted as “long overdue” and hopefully Thompsons position as Scotland’s leader in terms of fighting for compensation, justice and better lives for its clients will go from strength to strength under the leadership of Scotland’s Solicitor of the Year.
