At Thompson’s we would like to reassure all our clients that as far as possible we are operating as normal. The health and safety of our staff and clients is our primary concern during this outbreak and as such we are reviewing the situation on a regular basis and will be adapting our working practices following government guidelines. However, we have had to make some minor changes to how we are doing things.

Following Government guidelines, we have temporarily closed all of our offices and our staff are now all working from home using secure technologies to ensure they are able to continue to progress with existing and new cases as normal. All face to face meetings have been cancelled, however we are continuing to hold these meetings via phone and video calls. All the team are contactable on their direct dial numbers and email should you need to speak with your solicitor, please do not hesitate to talk to us about anything during this time.

We know these are uncertain and unsettling times for many of our clients, and the wider population, and things might look a little different for the foreseeable future. But our focus remains on our dedication, knowledge and strength that we provide to all our clients. We will continue to provide updates over the coming days and weeks in accordance with official guidelines and to keep everyone informed of the situation.

As always, for any concerns, advice and updates on your case; Talk to Thompsons.

Changing Solicitors

Thompsons Solicitors Scotland
Thompsons Solicitors Scotland

There are many reasons you might need to change solicitor. From difficulties presented by the firm's location or problems with the level of service to, in some cases, the lawyer going out of business. In short, if it is no longer possible for you to use the services of your firm or it has failed to meet your expectations, you may feel compelled to seek new legal advisors.

If this happens and you don't know what to do about your personal injury claim, employment action, or will or executry matter, Thompsons Solicitors can help. It is a straightforward process and we can help you make a smooth transition from lawyer to lawyer, even if the matter is at a relatively advanced stage of litigation.

Communication is essential in the solicitor-client relationship. It can be incredibly frustrating if your solicitor does not reliably return your calls or fails to update you on developments regarding your case – if there is a substantial communication breakdown it is reasonable that you might seek to end the relationship. You are not bound to remain with your solicitor and if he or she fails to uphold a basic level of professionalism, courtesy and respect, you have every right to look elsewhere for alternative legal representation.

Not many people know that you don't need to stay with the solicitor nominated by your insurance company, but can pick one of your own. This may be particularly relevant if your insurance company has nominated a solicitor who has little or no experience in the area of law relevant to your case. For instance although a firm may handle minor whiplash and minor car accident claims, they may not have the experience to handle a complex medical negligence claim.

A specialist solicitor is best, and if you've been involved in an accident or suffered an industrial disease, it can only help to have a specialist on your side.

Thompsons, Scotland's leading firm

Our solicitors deal with all different types of accidents and industrial disease claims on a daily basis and are experts in what they do. We have specialists in many fields, including accident at work claims, asbestos claims, road accident claims, employment claims and more.
