Mrs Alexander recently received a compensation payout after being injured in a restaurant. The 61 year old from Glasgow had been out for a meal with her husband at the time.
After she and her husband had finished their meal, they got up to leave. As they passed the kitchen however, Mrs Alexander slipped and fell. It was later discovered that she had slipped on the remains of a spilled meal which had not been properly cleared up.
After being taken to hospital it was discovered that she had fractured her hip in the fall. This caused her to need surgery. It has also reduced her mobility and caused her significant pain.
She decided to make a compensation claim against the restaurant on the ground that they had failed to maintain a safe premises for customers. The restaurant owners initially disputed her claim but relented after she continued to pursue legal action against them. They eventually offered her a compensation settlement of £11,750 which she accepted.
