A 42 year old man, who wishes to remain anonymous, has made a successful compensation claim after tripping on a pothole on the pavement.
He had been walking on a pavement near to his house when the accident occurred. He did not see the pothole and tripped over on it, falling onto the pavement.
The fall caused him to fracture his ulnar stynoid, a bone in his right wrist. As a result of this he required surgery on the wrist. However, even after the surgery he still experiences pain in the joint and does not have complete use of it.
Due to the extent of this injury and its effect on his life he decided to seek compensation from his local council. He made the claim on the grounds that the council had failed to properly maintain and inspect the pavement that he had tripped on. The council accepted liability and he was awarded a compensation settlement of £15,575. He will use part of the payment to pay for further medical care.
