A 30 year-old woman has received compensation after being injured in a cycling accident. The Londoner, who has since emigrated to Canada, made the compensation claim after the council failed to maintain the road that she had been cycling on.

The injury occurred as she was cycling home from work in London. On her way home her front wheel hit a pothole in the road. This caused her to lose control of her bicycle and tip over the handlebars head first.

As a result of this fall she sustained injuries to her face and chipped her front teeth. She has been left with a scar above her lip and will need more dental treatment in order to fully repair her teeth.

She made a compensation claim on the basis that her accident could have been avoided if the council had had a proper road inspection system in place. Her claim was successful and she received £10,000 in compensation. She will use this money to pay for her ongoing dental treatment.
