Thompsons Solicitors have welcomed the launch of Crown Office’s new health and safety division.  The new unit will have a remit of investigating high profile cases, such as that of The Flying Phantom tugboat disaster, with a view to making prosecutions.

Andrew Henderson, Partner at Thompsons Solicitors, represents the bereaved families of the men who died when the flying phantom sank.

“A dedicated group specifically focusing on high profile or sensitive cases should lead to expertise and faster, more satisfactory results for victims.

Similar dedicated groups already exist for crimes such as rape and other sexual assaults.  Specialisation here has meant a higher degree of expertise and professionalism.
