Patricia Aitken appeared in court charged with causing the death of Suzanne Harkness, who at the time off the car accident in August last year was learning to drive.

Ms Harkness was having a driving lesson in the borders when the car accident occurred and as a result she suffered serious personal injuries and her driving instructor was injured.  Ms Harkness was taken to a local hospital by ambulance but sadly died a short while later.

Aitken is accused of careless driving and causing her car to cross the carriageway of the A6091.

At the recent court hearing which took place at Selkirk Sheriff Court, Aitken made no plea, the case was continued and she was released on bail.
