In January 2009, Jason MacIntrye, a professional cyclist from Fort William was knocked over and tragically killed by a pick-up truck while out training on his bike.

The Olympian’s widow was disgusted by the £500 fine handed to the van’s driver for careless driving.

Seeking satisfaction for her husband’s death, widow Caroline MacIntrye has raised personal injury compensation proceedings in the Court of Session, Edinburgh.  She is suing for £500,000 which is made up of a claim for pain and suffering as well as a loss of financial and moral support.

Jason MacIntrye was on course to represent Scotland at the 2010 commonwealth game.  At the time of his death he was in training for the Beijing Olympics.
