Paul Robertson recently received compensation after suffering an injury at work. He had been working as a delivery driver for a furniture company at the time.

Mr Robertson had been delivering furniture to a customer’s home when the accident happened. After pulling up outside the house, he attempted to leave the 7.5 tonne van he was driving through its back door. In doing this he stepped down onto a metal bar which ran across the back of the van. As he began to climb down he fell and landed on his shoulder. After being taken to hospital by a colleague he discovered that he had broken his collar bone. Because of this he was unable to work for 10 weeks.

He made a claim for compensation on the ground that his employer had failed to provide him with the proper equipment needed to exit the van safely. His employer agreed to settle his claim without going to court and Mr Robertson received a sum of £6,250.
