Happy new year everyone!  Everyone in the Thom household had an excellent holiday and Santa managed to deliver most of our presents.  Hopefully you all got your presents and Christmas cards on time but rather strangely we are still getting Christmas cards and presents delivered now.  Santa has been working overtime to make sure all the presents are delivered but I suppose better late than never!!  I guess things have been delayed because of the bad weather but I was rather surprised to see that Royal Mail have paid out £800,000 in compensation to more than 30,000 people in Scotland as a result of failing to deliver the post properly.

Royal Mail made an apology after it was reported that Scottish customers made 84,169 complaints about mis-delivered, lost and damaged mail last year.  More than half the people who complained were paid compensation.  Although the amount of compensation paid is staggering Royal Mail said that “The amount of complaints received last year is a small percentage of the mailbag we deal with every day”.

I hope that people don’t sue Santa for compensation!!
