Caravan Accidents
Caravan holidays are a very popular holiday choice in the UK, and thousands of families own a mobile caravan.
When you think of risky activities likely to result in injury and compensation claims, staying in a caravan will never appear high on the list, but caravan accidents can and do happen.
For example:
- Hitching and unhitching the caravan. If this is not done properly you may sustain a personal injury and, because of the size and weight of the caravan, this could be quite severe. If the injury was caused by a fault in the hitching mechanism then you may be able to bring a compensation claim against the manufacturer.
- Accidents caused by the gas and electricity serving the caravan. If, for example, you are hurt in a fire caused by a faulty gas valve you may be able to bring a claim against the manufacturer or - if it is a stationery caravan in a park - you may be able to raise a compensation claim against the owner of the park.
- Caravan park facilities.The caravan park operator is responsible for safety in the park in general, and so may be liable for injuries caused by poorly maintained facilities. This could include:
- Injuries caused in and around the swimming pool
- Slips or falls in the shower or toilet blocks
- Slips and trips in the park’s communal buildings, such as the reception or cafe.
If you were injured through no fault of your own while you were staying in a caravan or at a caravan park you may be entitled to compensation.
