Thompsons Solicitors and Solicitor Advocates is an award-winning firm of solicitors and accident lawyers with a passion for justice.

We are best known for our expertise in personal injury claims and are one of the leading firms of accident injury lawyers in the country.

Our teams of accident lawyers cover the full range of compensation claims, large or small, straightforward or of the utmost complexity. We win more than 90% of our court cases and obtain over £1 million compensation weekly for our clients.

We have offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Peebles, Galashiels and Dumfries and, through our sister company, branches throughout England and Wales.

Broad expertise

But our expertise extends beyond accident claims. We also specialise in employment law, and our solicitors and solicitor advocates have extensive experience in resolving employment disputes of all types.

We never represent insurers or big business: we always act for the underdog – the accident victim or worker. Nor do we limit ourselves to dealing with the law as it is - we actively campaign to make the law better, seeking reforms that will help workers, accident victims and their families.

Client-focused

We bring a client-focused approach to our legal work. This means that we take the time to listen in order to get to know you, the circumstances of your accident, and your most pressing needs.

When necessary, we will make home visits for your convenience and when appropriate will seek to obtain interim compensation payments to meet your most pressing rehabilitation, treatment, equipment and financial needs.

Laura Blane - Lung Disease Team

Laura BlaneAsbestos-related Disease

Laura is a solicitor and Partner with Thompsons Scotland and is one of Scotland’s leading specialists in complex claims for asbestos-related lung disease. Laura played a key role in changing Scottish law so that mesothelioma victims could reach a compensation settlement in life while also preserving the right of family to claim further damages after their death.

Laura was one of the key advisers to Bill Butler MSP in the progression of his members’ Bill on damages through the Scottish Parliament. Her efforts were publicly recognised at stage three of the Bill which went on to become the Damages (Scotland) Act 2011.

David MartynEmployment Law

David has been a specialist Employment Lawyer since 2009. David represents trade unions and their members in many areas, including disputed TUPE transfers, Working Time Regulations cases, and cases of unfair dismissal.

David comments, "To effectively fight for people’s rights in these areas, our clients need expert advice from dedicated professionals with a detailed understanding of fast-moving case law. That is what they get with Thompsons."
