A drama teacher is claiming £800,000 in compensation after she was given a “nightmare” class which made her so ill that she had to take time off work.
The teacher is suing Argyll and Bute Council for compensation at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. She is alleging that the council have been negligent and that their negligence has caused her to suffer psychological injury.
As a result of some unruly students, Rosemary Fletcher has said that she was diagnosed with a psychiatric illness, an adjustment disorder with anxiety and depressive reaction.
The Council are arguing that if she had reported the bad behaviour, the individuals concerned would have been removed from the class.
The case is currently being heard in front of Lord Pentland, who will ultimately decide whether or not Fletcher should be awarded compensation.
