Seonaid joined Thompsons in 2012 after completing her diploma in professional legal practice. Initially starting her traineeship in the Lung Disease team, she moved to join the Union Accident team in March 2013. Since that time, Seonaid has acted for union members who have been involved in accidents at work, road traffic accidents, accidents offshore and accidents in public places. She also has considerable experience in dealing with workplace stress claims, assault cases, cases involving Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority applications, and cases that need to be submitted to the Motor Insurers Bureau.
In addition to her case work, Seonaid is also the union training co-ordinator, a role which requires her to prepare and provide appropriate training across a broad range of subjects to union members.
As part of the Union Accident team, Seonaid regularly deals with cases in the Court of Session and All-Scotland Personal Injury Court at Edinburgh, and she has represented clients in summary cause proceedings at Glasgow Sheriff Court and Dumbarton Sheriff Court as well as at a Fatal Accident Inquiry in Ayr Sheriff Court. Dealing with high-value fatal accidents and catastrophic cases is something she's also gained experience in.
As well as being an invaluable member of the Thompsons' team, Seonaid is also a tutor in Delict and Commercial Law at Strathclyde University, a role she has carried out since 2013.
