Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC emissions scandal

Thompsons Solicitors Scotland
Thompsons Solicitors Scotland

It has recently come to light that many Mercedes BlueTEC Diesel vehicles manufactured between 2010-2018 were fitted with cheat devices to defeat emissions tests.  If you owned, leased or financed a vehicle which was affected, you could be eligible to join our mass litigation where you could claim thousands in compensation.

Mercedes installed many of their cars and vans with software which allowed these vehicles to display lower emissions readings than were accurate when undergoing testing.  This means that these cars and vans were causing more pollution than acceptable under EU regulations and misleading consumers of their true emissions figures.

In 2017 The German Federal Motor Transport Authority confirmed these devices had been installed which led to Daimler (Mercedes-Benz parent company) being fined £776 million by German Prosecutors.  Mercedes have now been ordered to recall over 90,000 vehicles in the UK which could also be affected.

Similar cases have been brought forward in Northern America and Thompsons are now launching a case for Scottish Motorists who have unknowingly bought, leased or financed an affected car or van.  We are investigating these claims and urge anyone whose vehicle meets the criteria to register their details with us.

Why Thompsons Scotland?

Thompsons are one of Scotland’s leading law firms and have been instrumental in the VW Emissions Scandal, launching what will be the largest class action in Scottish legal history, acting on behalf of the thousands of Scottish Motorists affected.  With the knowledge and expertise in this area we have accumulated through this mass litigation, we are now pursuing this similar action against Mercedes with confidence.  We firmly believe that Mercedes mislead consumers by offering these vehicles with false emissions figures by using their cheat software during testing.

Is my vehicle eligible?

You may be able to join our legal action if your Mercedes vehicle:

  • Is a BlueTEC diesel engine
  • Was manufactured between 2012 and 2018
  • Was bought outright, leased or financed regardless of being new or second hand

Talk to Thompsons today on 0800 0891 331 if your car or van meets the above criteria to register your details.
