Anne Marie HarbisonA Glasgow City Council employee has been helped to £3,000 compensation from specialist trade union lawyers Thompsons. The local authority worker was a passenger in a council vehicle when it was struck from behind by a refuse lorry while sitting stationary.

As a member of her union, Unison, the victim was entitled to free legal support from Thompsons Solicitors who intimated a claim on her behalf. Legal advisors to the Council admitted liability and a settlement of £3,000 in compensation was secured.

The woman sustained a whiplash injury to her neck with symptoms persisting for around four months and suffered from residual symptoms which lasted almost a year after the incident. Anne Marie Harbison from Thompsons Solicitors said: “We were delighted to be able to help our client secure damages to compensate her for her suffering. Through her union membership she was able to access legal help from Thompsons at no cost to herself to enable her to seek redress following the accident.”
