At Thompson’s we would like to reassure all our clients that as far as possible we are operating as normal. The health and safety of our staff and clients is our primary concern during this outbreak and as such we are reviewing the situation on a regular basis and will be adapting our working practices following government guidelines. However, we have had to make some minor changes to how we are doing things.

Following Government guidelines, we have temporarily closed all of our offices and our staff are now all working from home using secure technologies to ensure they are able to continue to progress with existing and new cases as normal. All face to face meetings have been cancelled, however we are continuing to hold these meetings via phone and video calls. All the team are contactable on their direct dial numbers and email should you need to speak with your solicitor, please do not hesitate to talk to us about anything during this time.

We know these are uncertain and unsettling times for many of our clients, and the wider population, and things might look a little different for the foreseeable future. Road Accidents

A cyclist has recently received a substantial compensation payment after being seriously injured in a road traffic accident. He had been out for a ride near to his house as part of a fitness regime.

At the time of the accident he had been riding along a busy urban road. As a car pulled out from behind him to overtake, it clipped the side of his bike. This caused him to fall off his bike and land on his back.

A woman recently received compensation for an injury sustained whilst driving home from work. The road traffic accident occurred in August 2009.

A man has recently received a substantial compensation payment after being involved in a road traffic accident. He is in his seventies and has been severely physically and mentally affected by the crash.

A student has received a compensation payment after being injured in a road traffic accident. He had been riding to university on his scooter at the time.

A woman has recently received compensation after being struck by a car while walking on the pavement.

She had been out walking near her home when the accident occurred. As a car turned the corner in front of her it mounted the pavement and hit her. The impact caused her to sustain a fractured leg and as a result she had to undergo several reparatory operations. After the operation she had to wear an ilizaroz frame for 6 months which caused her severe discomfort and greatly reduced her mobility. She still struggles to walk normally which has had a detrimental effect on her life.

A woman has recently received a compensation settlement after sustaining whiplash injuries in a car accident. Her claim reached court in July 2010.

A 30 year-old woman has received compensation after being injured in a cycling accident. The Londoner, who has since emigrated to Canada, made the compensation claim after the council failed to maintain the road that she had been cycling on.

The injury occurred as she was cycling home from work in London. On her way home her front wheel hit a pothole in the road. This caused her to lose control of her bicycle and tip over the handlebars head first.

The Department for Transport has published a report which shows that the number of people killed in road traffic accidents involving drinking and driving has decreased. The report showed that the number of deaths had dropped by 5% from 2008 to 2009. The number of serious casualties also fell, as did the number of less serious injuries sustained.

Lisa Ross was forced to claim compensation after being injured in a road traffic accident on her way to work.  She had been following her normal commute when the road traffic accident occurred.

A woman has received a large settlement after making a compensation claim following a car accident.  She made the claim after receiving multiple personal injuries in the car crash.

At the time of the car accident she had been driving home from university to spend Christmas with her family.  As she drove, a driver on the other side of road lost control of his vehicle and crashed into her car.  He had been driving too quickly and hadn’t being paying proper attention to the road.
