This Thompsons client had a nasty fall and twisted his ankle after falling into a pothole. The accident occurred outside a Glasgow hospital but the local health board had failed to fix the problem and it was causing a considerable risk to patients and health workers alike. Thompsons contacted the health board and within 3 months a small settlement was worked out.

Commenting on the outcome the client said “To be honest I hadn’t really considered doing much about this and it was more about getting the healthboard to sit up and take notice that there was a huge hazard right outside one of their hospitals. It was a nasty fall and my ankle was swollen for some time but the main thing for me was they made the entrance safe. It seemed the only way to get the health board to move was to get the lawyers involved. Thompsons were polite and efficient. The whole thing was settled really quickly”

Laura McGeeHis Lawyer Laura McGee commented “Compared with most of the cases we handle this was a small one. But having said that the gentleman involved was concerned about a large pothole at the very entrance to a hospital and he was annoyed it had led to him having a very painful fall. We were able to secure him a small but fair level of compensation and were also able to focus the health board on their duty to make their building safe”
