DePuy Hip Replacement FAQ

What has gone wrong with metal on metal hip replacements?

Some metal on metal hip implants, particularly the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System and ASR Hip Resurfacing System, can wear together, causing high levels of cobalt and chromium to be released into the body.  This defect can cause inflammation, considerable pain, muscle erosion and tumours.       [Top]
