It has been reported that scam emails are being sent to passengers who have been disrupted because of the volcanic ash.  The emails are offering compensation to the passengers from a compensation fund from Frank Adam Civil Aviation authority. 

The fake emails claim that each passenger could be entitled to up to £2000 compensation.   The Civil Aviation Authority has advised that they have not sent out any such emails and passengers are urged not to respond to the emails.  In exchange for the compensation, passengers are asked to provide personal information such as passport numbers etc.  This information could be used fraudulently. 

Passengers who have been disrupted because of the ash cloud and who want to claim compensation have been urged to contact their own transport providers and should not reply to any third party emails.
