Some holiday resorts abroad now have flumes or water slides in their swimming pools either for children or adults and many resorts also have large water parks nearby which are popular with UK holidaymakers. Flumes are great fun if they are used safely and are properly maintained. However, accidents can happen at water parks which can cause serious personal injury. If you have sustained an injury due to a flume or water park ride which was not your fault you may be able to make a successful compensation claim.
Injuries on flumes and at water parks can happen for the following reasons:
Injuries which can be sustained from these flumes and in which a compensation claim may be brought are cuts, bruises, sprains, back and neck injuries and broken bones.
It is important that you observe all signs when using flumes to avoid personal injury. It is especially important to observe signs which state the age/height restrictions and correct posture for each ride i.e. whether you should be sitting up or lying down. If you are injured but have not observed signs then you may not be able to bring a successful compensation claim. The owners of the water park or resort where the flume is situated should provide safety signs and a lifeguard on duty. If these are not provided they may be liable in a compensation claim if you suffer a personal injury on one of their water rides due to a lack of safety instructions or if the injury could have been prevented by the presence of a lifeguard.
