Rotherham Metropolitan Council fined £75,000
Rotherham Metropolitan Council has recently been fined £75,000 and ordered to pay costs after a partially deaf employee was crushed and sustained fatal injuries in a road traffic accident.
The Council employee, a pedestrian, was struck and knocked down by a reversing tipper wagon. The eight wheeled tipper wagon was used to deliver asphault. The Health and Safety Executive prosecuted both the Council and Brocklebank & Company (Demolition) Ltd who owned and operated the tipper wagon.
Both the Council and Brocklebank & Company (Demolition) Ltd plead guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The Council and Brocklebank & Company (Demolition) Ltd breaches caused or contributed to the road traffic accident.
