3 Year Old Suffers Personal Injuries After Fair Ground Accident

A 3 year old boy sustained personal injuries after falling from a ferris wheel type ride at Dagenham Town Show, Essex named the Sky Diver.

The boy was strapped into a seat on the ride prior to the accident. Each seat on the ride ascends into the air.

The cause of the accident is not clear however, it has been reported by the Daily Mirror that prior to the accident the boy was hit on the head by another child’s shoe that knocked him out. The boy fell from the seat on the ride and plummeted to the ground sustaining injury. Members of the public gave the boy first aid before the paramedics arrived.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage. It is not clear whether the boy was too small to be on the ride, whether there was a fault with the ride, or whether the boy being knocked out by another child’s shoe caused the accident. It is not clear why the safety straps did not work.

It is reported by the Daily Mirror that ambulance crews struggled to reach the boy who lay unconscious among thousands of families at the show. The severity of the boys injuries are not known but it is reported that the boy is now recovering from his injuries at home.

The Health and Safety Executive, local Council and Police are carrying out investigations into the causes of the accident.
