Joanne Noone has received compensation after suffering an injury on her wedding day. She had the ceremony at the Setanta House Hotel, and during the reception there the roof collapsed, injuring Mrs Noone and some of the other guests.
As a result of the accident she sustained injuries to her legs, back and neck. She was also later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, which was a psychological reaction to seeing the ceiling cave in on top of her. She also had to cancel her honeymoon in Italy.
Because of suffering this physical, psychological and financial damage, Mrs Noone decided to seek compensation.
The wedding had been filmed, and after watching the footage the Judge described it as a “pretty catastrophic event”. He awarded her a payment of £42,000 in compensation for her injuries and for the expense of her cancelled honeymoon.
Some of the guests involved in the accident have also filed compensation claims, which are likely to result in further compensation payouts.
